“The Lord taketh pleasure in them that fear him, in those that hope in his mercy.” Psalm 147:11
The click-clack of my Sunday shoes sounded on the pavement. If practical, I would have changed into more comfortable shoes, but I wanted to feel dressed up for a Sunday stroll with my husband.
Unbidden the thoughts came to me: And who will you walk with? Who will you dress up for, if your husband dies? I hadn’t taken more than a few steps before I heard God’s answer to my soul: “Me. You will walk with me. You will dress up for me.” With joy my heart leapt to catch the answer. I cherished the thought of special walks with God...of dressing up for God. Really, I can do that now, while my husband is tall and stalwart by my side. But if God sees fit to take him home; if we don’t grow old together—gazing at each other from our recliners or wheel chairs—then I will walk with God. And God will still be good.
