Rest for Your Soul

“…ye must be born again.” John 3:7

If you were told to pursue happiness, what would you do?
The average American spends millions on houses, appliances, cars furniture, vacations, recreational equipment, clothes, etc, yet there are more suicides, broken homes, and addictions than ever before.
The first step toward happiness is spiritual. Man is created with a vacuum that only God can fill. We are made for God and we will never find rest until we rest in Him. We need faith in God. This faith is more than a belief in historical facts. Our minds can consent to the fact that Jesus came to earth as a baby, died on a cross, was buried and rose again. But, the faith that gives rest to our souls is a belief in the historical facts about Jesus that has moved from the head to the heart, and results in a changed life. A faith that says, “God I’m a sinner; I believe Jesus is your son and died on the cross for my sins. I invite you into my heart to be my Savior and Lord; I ask forgiveness for my many past sins.”

When I invited Jesus into my life many years ago, I well remember the joy that flooded my soul. I wanted to shout and sing. To finally have assurance that I would go to heaven if I died, was indescribable. Finally, my soul found rest in God. Finally, the vacuum was filled.
Have you found rest for your soul? "Whosoever will may come."
