Take Time for Grandchildren

A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children’s children. Proverbs 13:22a

I was savoring some extra time with the Lord one morning when my phone rang. “Hello, this is Donna,” I answered.

On the other end of the line I recognized my five year old granddaughter, Sierra, “Grandma, what is that song that Alyssa sings?”

So I sang to Sierra, her two-year-old cousin, Alyssa’s, favorite song along with my version of all Alyssa’s expressions.

As Sierra listened to the words of this little rhyme put to music, I blessed the Lord. He had provided me the opportunity to share the greatest truth yet another time with my granddaughter. Yes, truly, In my Bible book it says that God loves me. I sang the little song again and we giggled, reflecting on the emphasis Alyssa puts on “In” when she sings the song.

How encouraged I am that Sierra loves to call me on the phone and ask simple questions that have profound messages. After this little phone exchange I wrote a note on my goal page. It said, “Always take
time for my grandchildren.”

Prayer: Father God, I thank You for the relationship you’ve given me with all eight of my little grandchildren. Thank you for giving me opportunities to share Your love with them. Amen.

Ponder: Call your grandchildren today and sing them a little song about God’s love. Sing it a second time asking them to join you. If you’re a
mommy, sing a little song with your children.
