Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.… for I am meek and lowly in heart: And ye shall find rest unto your souls. Matthew 11:28, 29b
Many times things happen that bring fear to my heart. Without realizing that fear is the cause, I
become restless. I fidget; I speak boisterously. Unkind words spew from my mouth. My heart feels faint and worried. I want to give up in despair. My spirit is anything but restful.
I find it’s important, when I sense this turbulence in my spirit, to look at my heart. If I take a few minutes and begin to write my feelings to the Lord, He reveals what is truly causing my agitation. By sharing my heart with Him, invariably, He exchanges my heaviness for peace and fills me with His tranquil rest.
Our Father invites us to come—to come just as we are, right in the midst of our fear—and share with Him exactly what is troubling our spirit. In love, He longs to lift our cares. He is meek and lowly and will give rest to our souls.
Prayer: Father God, I worship You for Your invitation to me. Guide me to take full advantage of Your enabling grace. Amen.
Ponder: Are you sensing turmoil in your heart? Sit with the Father and allow Him to replace it
with His peace.
